Welcome back everyone – a special welcome to new parents and pupils.  We hope the years ahead will be both happy and successful.

Our new pupils have settled in nicely.  We recognise that this is a big step for them and we can see that the effort we made last year to prepare them for this transition has paid off.  Thank you to all those parents who joined our Welcome Tea on Friday, I hope you enjoyed it.

All the pupils look so smart in their new school uniform and I hope that this will continue throughout the year.  May I remind you that only black footwear should be worn and that labelling your child’s clothing and other possessions is extremely important.  Lost Property is located at the back of the school hall and if not claimed by each half term is taken to the charity shop in Skewen.

We have a busy programme of events and developments planned for the coming year and we will endeavour to keep you up to date with these through letters, the planner and our noticeboard. We have been fortunate to secure a Norwegian teaching assistant for this coming term.  Miss Trygsland will be working in the school during the day and on Tuesday and Wednesday 3.30pm - 4.00 pm she will be teaching Norwegian studies.  If you and/or your child would like to attend then please indicate on the clubs letter.

Every year I mention how important your involvement is in your child’s education, and I am sure you will appreciate that by working together we will ensure that your child is happy, secure and successful.  Please remember, we have an ‘open door’ policy and we need to hear your concerns first hand.

Bags for carrying homework, reading book and planner are now available.  These are very strong and durable (with school logo).  The cost is £3.00.  PE bags (also with logo) are available for £3.00 but both can be bought for £5.00.  these are available from the school office.

Some important reminders:

  • Several consent letters will be coming home this week.  PLEASE RETURN BY FRIDAY

10 SEPTEMBER.

  • Sponsor forms for sponsored events: Wednesday 22 September - will be sent out soon.

  • Pupils requiring asthma pumps should ensure that they are labelled with name and class.  They will be able to keep them in their bag and should be responsible for them at all times.

  • All trip monies (Cheques should be made payable to: MYNACHLOG NEDD JUNIOR SCHOOL) and dinner money etc should be in a sealed envelope which is marked with your child’s name and class.

  • Cheques (please ensure that you put your Cheque Guarantee   Card Number on the back of your cheque) for dinner money are made payable to NPTCBC.  Money should be handed in on a Monday morning or first day back following an absence.  School dinners cost £1.90 and £9.50 for the week.  Dinners will not be given if payment is not made promptly at the beginning of each week.  Any arrears will be referred to the LEA after 2 weeks and the LEA Legal Section will deal with these accordingly.

  • Morning snacks are fresh fruit only.  This is sold in school at 30p.

  • Please ensure that your child has a water bottle every day.  This is extremely important.  Dehydration does affect your child’s mental and physical ability.

  • For the safety of the children, the school yard is a ‘car-free zone’.  Children should enter or exit school via the front gate only.  Could you please ensure that you park sensibly and safely outside the school in order that pupils are safe from any risks.

  • In the event of no permission/consent form NOT returned for a visit, trip etc, no phone calls to home will be made.  This could mean non-attendance at an event.

  • Your child will have an opportunity to access the internet to obtain relevant curriculum information throughout the course of their work.  If you have any objections to this then you need to notify the school.
